The road from Guru Mandir to Capri Cinema, Karachi has been closed for many months now because of the ongoing construction work on the BRT project. The traffic has been diverted to Soldier Bazaar which is now bearing the brunt of regular traffic congestions. A small number of traffic police officers are deployed in the neighbourhood to manage the traffic.
The relevant authorities need to understand that the traffic flow on Soldier Bazaar’s roads is quite heavy and a couple of traffic police officers cannot manage it. The traffic police authorities must deploy at least five officers at each point across the neighbourhood. Residents of the area cannot cross a single road because of the incoming traffic. The authorities must seriously look into the issue and keep steps to ease the traffic situation.
