ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the US Senate Armed Services Committee John McCain has said the Pakistan Army, under the able leadership of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, inflicted losses on terrorists after great sacrifice.
In a statement about the committee members’ meeting with the COAS held in Washington, DC, he said: “I thanked General Sharif for his leadership and expressed my appreciation for the sacrifice of so many brave Pakistani soldiers in the fight against terrorism.” The senator said the meeting was productive and informative for all members of the committee. “We value our relationship with Pakistan during these very challenging times. Our meeting focused on the situation in Afghanistan, fight against ISIL and ways to improve coordination and cooperation between our two countries against terrorist enemies. I hope we will continue working closely together in the interest of both our countries,” he added.
