Angry Baloch to be won over: PM

Says those who surrender will get incentives; approves Pur Aman Balochistan plan to bring angry Baloch into mainstream; says Balochistan to be major beneficiary of CPEC projects; calls for making Baloch partners in national development

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday approved the Pur Aman Balochistan (Peaceful Balochistan) plan aimed at bringing the angry Baloch back to the national mainstream.
He said that those who would lay down their arms would be given incentives.The prime minister approved the plan while chairing a high-level meeting here.Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Nasir Khan Janjua, Director General Military Operations (DGMO) Major General Aamir Riaz, DG ISPR Major General Aasim Salim Bajwa, NP leader Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo, Additional Secretary to the PM Fawad Hasan Fawad, Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha, PSO to the Prime Minister Dr Nabeel Awan and senior civil and military officials attended the meeting.
Nawaz asked the authorities concerned to reach out to the people of Balochistan and make them partners in the development process.He said Balochistan was the cornerstone of the future development of Pakistan and would be the principal beneficiary of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.
Nawaz, who visited Quetta for a day to review progress of development projects and the security situation in the province, was given a comprehensive briefing on the latest security situation and initiatives taken by the federal and provincial governments, armed forces and law enforcing agencies (LEAs) in the province to engage the people of Balochistan in improving the social and political situation of the province.
The meeting was also briefed about development projects, including the projects inaugurated by the prime minister, on his arrival at the Governor’s House.The meeting agreed to provide full security to the CPEC projects in the province and give incentives to the militants (ferraris) if they accepted the state writ and laid down their arms.
Nawaz said

the infrastructure and communication network will be planned and executed for the utilisation of resources of Balochistan and the Gwadar Port will be connected by rail/road links with the Central Asian states.
He directed preparation of a strategy for building Gwadar Port City and Gwadar Port as and economic hub and attraction for investments.He expressed satisfaction over the development of consensus among all the stakeholders on national issues and said it will take the country forward.
He further said the economic turnaround of Pakistan was being acknowledged by the world’s financial bodies and they are ready to work together with Pakistan.He directed the provincial government to keep up the momentum of the good work for the betterment of the people of Balochistan.
