SUKKUR: The Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur, refused on Tuesday to affiliate the Government Elementary College for Women (GECW), Khairpur.
Additional Director Teachers’ Training Institute Sindh (TTIS) Ghulam Asghar Memon addressing at cheque distribution ceremony of Rs20,000 scholarship for each of the 19 girl students of the GECW Khairpur, said the SALU had refused to give affiliation to the college as the college did not own a building.
Ghulam Asghar Memon said that the college had a good building, but the authorities at Khairpur forcibly got it vacated and established the Khairpur Medical College (KMC), which is an injustice with the girl students of the GECW, putting the future of the girls at stake. Now the authorities were trying to get the hostel of the college vacated as well. He said the civil society of Khairpur was unmoved over the issue.
Ghulam Asghar Memon urged the CM Sindh to provide a building to the GECW in greater interest of the students, who were getting education in a single room.He said another building of the Regional Teachers’ Training Centre (RTTC) Khairpur was also vacated to establish the Mehran Engineering College Campus. He said the TTI was focusing upon accreditation of the teachers and standard of education.Ghulam Asghar Memon said the trained students having degree of Associate in Education (ADE) will be the best teachers.
