MANSEHRA: The Judbah-Thakot Road, which links Torghar district with rest of Hazara division, has been cleared for traffic on Monday after closure for more than a week.
“The locals cleared the road to traffic after removing heavy boulders and landslides from it,” Assad Khan, the SHO of the Judbah police station, told reporters. The Torghar district administration and the Communication and Works Department had failed to clear landslides triggered by heavy rains in the area last week, causing inconvenience to travelers using the artery along Indus River.
The locals cleared the road on self-help basis near Judbah, following which a truck loaded with essential commodities and a bus carrying passengers from Karachi entered the district via Judbah-Thakot Road. The bus took around 60 locals who had been stranded in Karachi since the government invoked a complete lockdown in the country last month.“These passengers were screened at various points on way to Judbah but were not screened here before entering the district,” a local resident claimed.
