The Citizens Foundation (TCF) has launched Rs500 million COVID-19 Response Appeal to battle the impact of the coronavirus crisis in Pakistan.
The organisation will be dedicating 20 per cent of all zakat, sadaqah and donations received during the crisis to provide essential relief to the impacted communities and for the support of frontline healthcare professionals and volunteers.
With the contribution to the TCF Covid-19 Response Appeal, the organisation will provide relief to families facing extreme economic hardship. Thousands of TCF teachers and alumni guiding the effort of the most vulnerable communities, and also to ensure the continuity of learning for millions of children who are currently staying away from schools. The frontline healthcare professionals and volunteers will be provided with equipment, testing kits and protective gear.
The president and CEO of the TCF, Syed Asaad Ayub Ahmad, said the impact of COVID-19 was felt most acutely in the communities they called home, adding that they were committed to being available when they need them the most. They resolved to do this with a belief that their supporters and volunteers would continue to provide support throughout the crisis. “We will get through this, together.”
Through its educational programmes, TCF has deep roots in vulnerable communities across Pakistan and it is directly connected to the lives of more than 266,000 students and their families, 12,500 teachers and principals, and 40,000 alumni.
