Sindh Education and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani, who recovered from COVID-19 on Monday after he tested negative for the disease, thanked his well-wishers who prayed for his recovery from the viral disease.
Talking to The News, he vowed to continue making efforts to help out the COVID-19 patients and common people from today (Tuesday) onwards. “I have recovered from this disease due to the prayers of people for whom I worked day and night as part of the team of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. Now that I have fully recovered, I would resume my job and join Sindh CM’s team to contain this virus and prevent people of Sindh from contracting it,” he said.
Ghani had restricted himself to a room of his house seven days back when he had tested positive for COVID-19. He claimed that he had no symptoms but was advised by the Sindh chief minister to get himself tested for the Coronavirus as he was meeting a lot of people including the confirmed and suspected coronavirus patients.
“It was the Sindh CM who advised us including myself, Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and Law Adviser Barrister Murtaza Wahab to get ourselves tested for coronavirus. We all gave our samples and only I came positive,” the education minister said.
“Three to four days prior to the date when we gave our samples for the test, I had advised both Murtaza Wahab and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah not to meet our families as we could have contracted the infection without knowing. As what happens in most of the cases, people who get the infection remain asymptomatic and continue to spread the disease,” Saeed Ghani said, adding that when the CM asked them to get tested, they did not hesitate and gave their samples for analysis.
The provincial minister said during the seven-day self-isolation, he remained mentally fit and healthy and remained in touch with a lot of people on phone. He added that he also attended several television programmes through teleconferencing.
He said he used to get dozens of calls every day and people used to pray for him and his well-being, which really boosted his morale. “Actually, I had no symptoms at all. I was not having any flu or fever or any other classical symptoms of this disease. Secondly, I remained connected with people through phone and teleconferencing. This helped me dealing with self-isolation,” he added.
To a query, Ghani said he did not feel any mental stress at all as he was at his home with his family, although they remained away from him during the entire period. He added that now after the recovery, he had no fear of the disease and he would perform his duties with more vigor and dedication.
