PDMA dispatches 100,000 N-95 masks to hospitals in Sindh

Under the directions of Sindh Rehabilitation Minister Faraz Dero, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has so far despatched over 100,000 N-95 special surgical masks donated by China to various hospitals and medical centres of the province.

A statement issued on Saturday provided the information to this effect.

The statement added that the PDMA, in coordination with the Sindh health department, had also sent over 70,000 pieces of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including sanitisers, gowns and gloves, etc. to different health facilities.

The PDMA said it had also provided logistic support to cater to 4,600 people at various quarantine centres of the province. The authority has also been running an awareness campaign about COVID-19 with the help of volunteers by distributing pamphlets, brochures and banners throughout the province.

According to Dero, the Sindh government is utilising all its resources to help the COVID-19 patients and the general public during the lockdown and the staff of the PDMA is engaged in relief activities round the clock.

The minister said the PDMA was carrying out the directions of by the Sindh government to the fullest extent and all the required measures would be taken to curtail the coronavirus spread in Sindh.

Dero further requested the public to follow the instructions of the government during the lockdown and reiterated that the only way to fight COVID-19 was to maintain social distancing.
