LAHORE: The Lahore accountability court has issued written order on physical remand of Jang/Geo Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman in Johar Town land exemption case.
Admin Judge Jawadul Hassan said in his four-page decision that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman issued arrest warrants for Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman according to the law. The NAB chief could issue arrest warrants for any accused at the inquiry or investigation stage.
The official record showed that Hidayat Ali, etc., had their 180-kanal land located at three different positions. Thirty-three kanals of land was situated along canal, while 124-kanal land was situated away from it.
During investigation, it was found that the statements of the then Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general and the then secretary to Punjab chief minister Nawaz Sharif needed further probe.
NAB investigation officer was directed to probe whether exemption to plots was accorded according to the law or not.
